i can't really think of one at the moment, but i do know that this is an experience that i will hold for a lifetime. i have learned so many things about kids, co-workers, and even myself. when you devote this much time to something, you take away so much more than you would think...

bear snacks... what we like to call camp bear track. you will never go hungry at this place... i promise. you are constantly fed, and being somewhat of an adult you can't eat fried foods all the time... because i'm not growing anymore, that does not help the waistline. you have to embrace it, and learn to crave a cold pb&j the day they decide to serve pizza sticks and french fries.

all in all, the summer has been great so far. i have a nice weeklong break, and then i finish my remaining four weeks for the summer. oh, and for those of you wondering, i did get to see dudley for the first time all summer. it was amazing, as usual, and we had a great weekend. i got to hear about his trip to australia, and we even got to experience an italian car show together! what next? The weekend was awesome, and was a great time to hang out with all our family and friends, sharing laughter and tears.
We woke up Friday knowing we had a busy day ahead of us! Jesse and I had to run some errands for the lingerie shower bash we were having that night. We were extremely discouraged by the rain, so decided to finish later. We came back to help Leslie get ready for the rehearsal before her manicure appointment! The rehearsal went great, and I was just in awe of how smooth everything went and how her day had finally come. The moment of much planning and hard work was finally here. We had an amazing time at the dinner at Jim's Place East, but one thing I was extremely worried about was the maid of honor toast/speech. I realized driving to dinner I was about to stand up in front of about 60 people and speak, one thing I hate doing. The time came and I was ready with a little preparation. Not expecting to be emotional, I stood up, and I was ready to start. It was one of those moments when all the feelings and emotions rushed through me and I became upset. I told a few stories and people laughed and people cried. I did my best to hold it together and just be happy, but it was one of those uncontrollable moments.

Brooke, Jesse, and I, in my opinion, threw a successful lingerie shower, and Leslie got many great things! We stayed up with Les packing and talking on her last night as a single Guinn girl. Saturday started off with the bridesmaids brunch which turned out to be great fellowship with mothers, grandmothers, and friends. We rushed to the church to get her hair and makeup done, and finish any other final touches all in time for her special moment with Jonathan! The pictures were taken, the guests were seated, and it was then our turn to make our way to the front of a beautifully decorated church (white roses and tulips and many candles). Walking down the isle before my sister was such an honor and a bittersweet moment. This was the last time she would be Guinn with me, she was about to make her own family. So back to walking down the isle... all eyes are on you, and i couldn't help but look around at the people in the church, seeing the smiles and tears. Leslie finally entered with my dad, the moment every girl waits for.. seeing her new husband waiting for her at the front of the church. I know it was an amazing and perfect moment for her. I loved every minute of it!

The reception at the Peabody could not have been any more fun! Dancing, laughing, and fun was had by all as my dad's swing band played, and Stephen Jerkins' (jonny's bro) band, Jetpack, covered some Beatles songs. I ended the night by sharing a moment with Leslie as she prepared to leave with Jonathan. I knew she was happy and I am SO happy, too! Rose petals were thrown and i then was able to enjoy time with dudley and friends on the rooftop of the Peabody with perfect weather!

All in all, it was an AMAZING weekend, one i will never forget! Thanks to everyone you put time into the wedding, i love you all! Some pictures are here for enjoyment, and the photographer will also put some on a website... more info to come!

newkular smells

so i work at a restaurant called newk's... if you're wondering what it's like, picture mcalisters, but a little nicer. also serving pizzas! so that is where i worked, i just started actually, but i just want you to know as a warning... (from previous post)

at ole miss, a derby is an obsession for sororites to be the best, and yes my sorority has been the reigning champs for the last 3 years... but this year it was cancelled due to the weather. i thought that i wouldn't get into this because of all the time it takes, but in the end, you kind of have to, and then it becomes your life. yes, a derby is a hat, and the sigma chi's have derby days for a week that consist of different challenges.

1. the actual derby. this year i became involved in "FINDING THE DERBY." huge mistake as this becomes an obsession that takes over your life. the boys hide a derby (could be a picture of a the hat, the monopoly piece hate, a real hat, whatever they choose) anywhere on campus, and give clues to every sorority to find it. sounds easy, but it's not. the clues are a bunch of nonsense, and if you think about it. IT'S ANYWHERE ON CAMPUS. me and a few friends got involved with looking for this derby, and it became our life for a night, and the following day. we were so close to it, but why would girls look in a dirty boys bathroom in a fraternity house to find it? well we didn't, and therefore we were upset with we didn't find it.

2. the dance. on the big day, which is always saturday, there is a dance competition between the sororities. we pick a theme, ours was pirates, and we have songs put together that go along with the theme. ours was superswank. [ ;) ] we have songs having to do with money and gold, ex. -golddigger, money money money money, and of course we had yo ho yo ho a pirates life for me. all topped off with a staged sword fight. we know, it was incredible.

3. the games. saturday, before the dance competition, there are a few games like running with eggs on spoons, tug of war, the amoeba, and a few relays. we always win games.

well today we all get ready, we're practicing and ready to go, and then we find out that it is cancelled... all this time spent during the week that began to take over my life (unfortunately) was wasted. so now you know what a derby is according to the ole miss campus.

here i am on a blog.. who knew that i would get on a blog? i always said i would never, but thanks to jesse faris for the encouragement... she said she would read it. shout out to you! so here i am on a blog.

what to say now. college.. this week my life has been consumed with 3 things...
1) a derby... want to know about this, i'll post later...
2) tests.. i have not gone one week without a test this semester, and i'm not exaggerating.
3) speeches, and work.

thats all i have for the moment, considering i do have a test tomorrow. nutrition, enough said.
